Passanger seat occupancy emulator (seat mat emulator) for BMW cars in european version up to ~2011 year.
Emulator is sold with original 4-pin seat mat plug and seat belt emulator in package.
Seat Mat Emulator can simulate the original seat mat signal. Passanger occupancy mat can be easily damaged ex. by kneeling or just from a common use. Due to its location seat mat it is difficult and expensive to replace. The total cost of replacing the original seat mat can be range from few hundreds to thousands dollars. Damaged seat mat turns the Airbag/SRS warning light on. In this case you cannot be sure whether the airbags are still active or not.
The passenger presence mat emulator is a diagnostic device that allows determining whether the cause of the displayed SRS/Airbag warning message on the dashboard is a faulty factory passenger seat occupancy sensor or associated electrical wiring. The emulator simulates the correct operation of the passenger seat occupancy sensor and sends a signal to the controller indicating the presence of a passenger in the seat. When the passenger mat emulator is connected, the diagnostic tester/interface will be able to clear error codes related to the passenger seat occupancy sensor from the controller and disable the SRS/Airbag warning. This will help to exclude or confirm damage to the passenger seat mat.
The seat mat emulator is not a factory standard equipment of the car and should only be used for diagnostic purposes. It is not intended to be permanently installed in the car. In order for the SRS system to be fully functional again, the diagnosed, damaged factory seat mat should be replaced with a new, original one from the car manufacturer, by a qualified authorized service.
NOTE: Emulator not works with BMW cars from USA!
